Common Conditions Treated with Vestibular Physiotherapy

Vestibular Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Singapore

What Symptoms Could Suggest a Vestibular Problem?

Vestibular issues may not always be obvious at first. However, if you’ve been struggling with any of the symptoms below, it could point to an underlying problem with your inner ear balance system.

Frequent dizziness or spinning sensations

You may feel like the room is spinning even when you’re still, or experience sudden episodes of light-headedness or vertigo.

Feeling unsteady when walking, standing, or turning your head could be a sign of a vestibular disorder.

Frequent queasiness, especially when riding in vehicles or moving your head, may be linked to vestibular dysfunction.

If your surroundings seem shaky or unclear when you move your head, it may be due to poor coordination between your eyes and inner ear.

What is Vestibular Rehabilitation?

Vestibular Rehabilitation is a therapy designed to address balance issues and dizziness caused by inner ear conditions. This therapy helps the brain adjust to disruptions in the vestibular system, which is responsible for maintaining balance. Vestibular Rehabilitation therapy incorporates a series of exercises that support the brain in compensating for the changes in the vestibular system, helping to improve stability and reduce symptoms such as dizziness.

Each Vestibular Rehabilitation programme is carefully designed to meet the specific needs of the individual, focusing on their unique symptoms and challenges. The therapy includes exercises that work on posture, coordination of eye movements, and overall balance. With consistent practice, Vestibular Rehabilitation can help improve confidence in daily activities and enhance stability, supporting a better quality of life for those affected by balance disorders.

How Vestibular Rehabilitation Can Help

Vestibular Physiotherapy involves rehabilitation techniques that include exercises and maneuvers designed to improve balance and reduce dizziness. In Singapore, we address a variety of vestibular disorders to help restore normal function and enhance your quality of life.

What to Expect During Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular Rehabilitation therapy is tailored to your symptoms and goals. Here’s what the process typically looks like:

Initial assessment

We begin with a thorough evaluation at our physiotherapy clinic in Singapore that includes reviewing your medical history, and conducting balance, gait, and eye movement tests to identify the root cause of your symptoms.

Customised treatment plan

Based on the assessment, we design a programme that may include gaze stabilisation, balance retraining, habituation exercises, and mobility work, tailored to your daily needs and response to therapy.

Frequency and duration of sessions

Most individuals attend sessions 1–2 times per week, but the frequency can be adjusted depending on your condition and goals. Progress is reviewed regularly to adapt the plan as needed.

At-home exercise programme

You’ll also receive exercises to perform at home between sessions, supporting faster progress and long-term results.

I came to Ke yun- an experienced physiotherapist at Saldo Rehabiliation as I was struggling with vertigo and constant dizziness, and from the very first session, I felt I was in expert hands. She took the time to thoroughly assess my condition and guided me through tailored exercises, including the Epley maneuver, which made a huge difference. Her calm, knowledgeable, and supportive approach gave me confidence, and I noticed steady improvement after each visit. I’m incredibly grateful for her care and would highly recommend her to anyone experiencing similar issues.

My wife recently suffered from Guillain Barrie Syndrome (GBS) and her whole body paralyzed from neck down. After a long treatment and preliminary physiotherapy in the hospital she was finally discharged to home. Doctor's office highly recommended us to engage Saldo rehabilitation for physiotherapy and further rehab.Initially we were bit worried and had many doubts in mind if she ever will be able to walk again. See Ke Yun from Saldo rehab is one of the best physical therapists and highly experienced in handling such cases. She is a kind-hearted and sweet person. Easy to talk to and always listens to your concerns with utmost patience. She is very much committed and works with loving care for patient’s recovery. With the help of Ke Yun, my wife was able to make a quick recovery in a short period of time and now able to lead her normal life. We will be always grateful to Ke Yun and willingly recommend the Saldo rehabilitation for anyone who needs physiotherapy treatment.Later, when one of my colleagues had back surgery and needed physical therapy treatment, I recommended him to Saldo rehabilitation. JC, one of the other physical therapists from Saldo, attended to him and my colleague was very happy with their expertise and overall treatment.

Been visiting Saldo Rehabilitation since April 2022 till present. The Tecar therapy has completely healed my neck sprain. Tecar, combined with the exercises my therapist recommended, also has improved my lower back pain quite significantly. On top of the effective treatments that have improved my conditions drastically, JC (my therapist) is a very well-trained and knowledgeable professional. He is very nice and accommodating. Don’t take my word for it. Strongly encourage folks with any kind of pain/discomfort to give them a try!
